MARCO POLO: an opportunity for a mutual learning

The objective of WP2 is to provide IRO's staff with specific skills and knowledge related to a proper management and administration of their offices. This will be implemented with 4 trainings prepared by EU HEI staff members of the project.


Within WP2, four Training Modules have to be implemented to provide IRO’s staff with specific skills and knowledge related to a proper management and administration of their offices.

In October 2017, the 3rd Training Module was celebrated: Finding Opportunities in Cooperation Programmes. The event was held in Hanoi (Vietnam) in the facilities of PTIT and was conducted by professional experts of US and had also the collaboration of INCOMA. The aims of this training were to share knowledge and information about the following issues:

  • Main European cooperation programs ant its preparation.
  • Improving information and dissemination mechanisms among the university community.
  • Exchange of good practices on the technical, administrative and financial management of European projects.

On the other hand, the 4th Training Module was held online by the end of January 2018 and was conducted by an IT expert from US. This training was dedicated to Data Base Management. It is worth mentioning the importance that respondents give to the fact of improving their own knowledge in web design.


In December 2017 technicians from each Partner Country completed a stay in the universities of US, FHJ and HWU within the framework of MARCO POLO project. During their stay they obtained an in-depth knowledge of the management of IROS and they were included into the daily operations of the offices. Moreover, partners had also time to visit some faculties and differents intereting spots of the cities.


The 2nd parter meeting of MARCO POLO project took place on 13th and 15th of March at Naresuan University facilities. The first day, partners had the opportunity to know a little bit more about Thai culture and the city of Phitsanulok. Right after they could discuss about the state of the art after one year and a half of the project.

The second day, partners discussed about the activities to be developed during the second year and the next steps to be implemented.


On March 14, the 1st International Conference entitled, "International Cooperation policies and Strategies in HEI", was held also in NU facilities. It was a very succesful and huge event that was attended by all the consortium members, as well as students, professors, the president and vice president from NU and other universities. Attendants had the chance to listen to Mrs. Chaidarun Tippawan, keynote speaker of the conference, who introduced the opportunities for HEIs and other stakeholders from Southeast Asia, followed by representatives of the partner universities of the project presenting best practices on internationalization.
